Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Samuel Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Noah Ortega!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez lands a body shot.

Ortega closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sanchez throws a lazy right hand but Ortega sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sanchez lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Ortega swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Ortega drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ortega wants to pass the guard but Sanchez is keeping the position.

Sanchez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Ortega stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Sanchez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ortega.
Sanchez bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ortega's head backwards.
Sanchez misses with a looping right.
Sanchez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ortega.
No joy there for Ortega, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ortega tries to clinch but Sanchez is having none of it.
Sanchez is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Ortega throws an overhand right that lands on Sanchez's shoulder, as Sanchez tries to avoid the shot.
Sanchez throws a lazy right hand but Ortega sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ortega throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Ortega lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Sanchez throws the left hand but Ortega avoids the punch easily.

Sanchez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sanchez misses with a straight right.
Samuel Sanchez is winning the standup battle so far.
A slow jab from Ortega misses its intended target.
Ortega looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Ortega fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sanchez manages to avoid it.
Sanchez is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Sanchez moves into the clinch successfully.
Sanchez pushes Ortega back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Sanchez misses with a punch on the inside.
Ortega has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sanchez avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Sanchez stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Ortega is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sanchez pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Ortega sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sanchez's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ortega is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ortega is keen to just control but Sanchez is a slippery customer.

Noah Ortega comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ortega has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
