Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Svend Thorsby (ranked 1380 p4p, 1634 weight class) and Bob Barnes (ranked 30 p4p, 45 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Svend Thorsby! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Barnes! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Thorsby misses. Barnes throws a low kick but it's checked well by Thorsby. Barnes keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Barnes throws an off balance right hand
and Thorsby counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Barnes fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Thorsby looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Barnes chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Thorsby can pounce on him.
Barnes has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Thorsby misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Barnes.
Thorsby blocks a low kick nicely. Thorsby cracks Barnes with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Thorsby shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Thorsby throws a left that rocks Barnes and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Thorsby dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Barnes regain composure!
Barnes is rocked! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Thorsby is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Barnes knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Barnes is still in real trouble! Can Thorsby finish him? That's one minute gone in the round. Barnes is trying to escape the position but Thorsby is controlling the position. Barnes seems to have recovered his senses. Barnes parries the strikes from Thorsby easily there. Thorsby is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Barnes to escape.
Barnes seems a little lost for a moment, as Thorsby dominates the positioning. Barnes tries to buck Thorsby off but Thorsby is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barnes is not content to let Thorsby control the position. Barnes is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Thorsby has just dragged him back down to the mat. Barnes is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Thorsby off and has taken his back! Barnes throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Barnes somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnes missing with punches from the back. Well, with Barnes on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Thorsby is tapping out... Can he escape the position? You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Barnes missing with strikes from the back. Thorsby covering up well and avoiding damage. Thorsby tries to escape the position.
Thorsby manages to reverse the position and now he's in Barnes's guard. Nice work there by Thorsby.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Barnes passes into half guard. Barnes wants to take a breather but Thorsby is having none of it. Barnes throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Thorsby wants to control but Barnes is keeping busy and won't allow it. Barnes prevents Thorsby from improving his position. Barnes throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Thorsby is trying to control but can't.
Thorsby looking for submissions off his back. Barnes not landing any meaningful shots this time. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Svend Thorsby will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Barnes throws a body kick that misses. Barnes tries a low kick but Thorsby avoids it. Thorsby throws a jab but it's blocked by Barnes. Barnes pulls out of a head kick attempt.

It seemed like Barnes was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Good work by Barnes as he checks the leg kick. Barnes motions for Thorsby to come forward. Barnes throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Thorsby takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Barnes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thorsby just misses with a punch to the body.

Thorsby throws a leg kick and Barnes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Thorsby throws a lazy right hand but Barnes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Thorsby blocks a leg kick. An inside leg kick from Thorsby misses. Barnes tries to work over Thorsby's front leg with a kick but Thorsby checks it. Barnes scores with a head kick. Thorsby tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Thorsby connects with the punch. Thorsby avoids a kick to the body.

and Thorsby counters with an inside leg kick. Thorsby looks to land a body kick but Barnes moved away. Barnes raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thorsby is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Svend Thorsby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Barnes misses with a straight right. Thorsby throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. A head kick misses from Barnes. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Thorsby looks to land a combination but Barnes avoids it well. Thorsby is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Nice body punch from Barnes. Thorsby with a jab. Thorsby will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Barnes throws a head kick that misses enabling Thorsby to counter with a crisp jab. Thorsby tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Barnes lands a nice hook to Thorsby's body. Thorsby takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Thorsby throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Barnes on the side of the head. Barnes misses with a body kick. Thorsby is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. An inside leg kick from Barnes misses. Thorsby throwing a counter right hand but Barnes manages to avoid it. Thorsby fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barnes manages to avoid it. Thorsby looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Barnes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Barnes unleashes a big counter combination but Thorsby bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. A low kick from Thorsby is predictable there and Barnes counters with a one-two to the body. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Barnes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thorsby moves away. Thorsby on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Thorsby checks the leg kick nicely there.

A punch lands to the side of Barnes 's head but he takes it in his stride. Barnes takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Svend Thorsby dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round! Thorsby takes a shot to the body in his stride.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thorsby slips under a jab. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Thorsby lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Barnes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Barnes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Barnes is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Thorsby rather than just go for the knockout. Thorsby moves out of range of the body kick. Barnes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thorsby getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Barnes throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Thorsby lands with an uppercut that bounces Barnes off the cage and back into range. Thorsby tries to work over Barnes's front leg with a kick but Barnes checks it. Barnes takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Bob Barnes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Barnes throws a looping overhand right but Thorsby ducks down to avoid it. Thorsby connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Barnes! He's out on his feet! Thorsby rushes in and drops Barnes with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
