Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexei Smirnov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ferdinand Lascombe!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Donatello Bradman and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smirnov lands the left hand.
Smirnov scores with the left hand. Lascombe knows he should have avoided that one.
Lascombe closes the distance and clinches up with Smirnov, looking for a takedown. Lascombe pushes Smirnov against the cage but Smirnov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Smirnov. Lascombe shrugs it off though.
Smirnov connects with a solid leg kick.
Smirnov throws a push kick but Lascombe slaps the foot to one side.
Smirnov misses with a kick to the body
and Lascombe counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lascombe.
Smirnov tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Smirnov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smirnov tries to get out of the position.
Lascombe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lascombe forces his way into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lascombe has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Smirnov defend it? Lascombe steps over the head and cranks it - Smirnov is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Lascombe!
