And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gaston Doumergue!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Starling forces Doumergue back against the cage and clinches.
Starling throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Doumergues head.

Starling works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Doumergue manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Doumergue avoiding damage as Starling throws knees to the body.
Doumergue is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Starling gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Starling works on Doumergue's body with a couple of short punches.
A nice left hand lands by Starling.

Starling breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Doumergue has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Starling is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Starling shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Doumergue is trying to defend but Starling finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Starling gets to his feet - Doumergue follows without any prompting.

and Doumergue counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Starling wants to stand up but Doumergue is controlling him.
Starling on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Starling tries to get out of the position.
Starling trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Doumergue slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Doumergue tries for a takedown but Starling circles away easily
and Starling counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Doumergue gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Starling to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Starling is in close to Doumergue's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Starling stands up and waves to Doumergue to follow him.

Doumergue fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Starling sprawls well initially but Doumergue persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Starling has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Doumergue is on him like a limpet, forcing Starling back against the cage.
Starling definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Doumergue tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Doumergue managing to block the knees to the body from Starling.
Starling lands an elbow inside.
Starling gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Starling manages to break the clinch.

Starling dives in and scores a takedown into Doumergue's guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Starling lands an elbow inside that Doumergue shrugs off.
