Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carter Wright (ranked 524 p4p, 1389 weight class) and Noah Ortega (ranked 71 p4p, 195 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Carter Wright! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Noah Ortega! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Eddie Farnsworth and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Wright throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Wright throws a jab but it's blocked by Ortega. Wright scores with a sloppy right hand. Ortega should have avoided that one. Wright has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Wright slips under a jab from Ortega. Ortega dives in and grabs Wright's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wright pushes down on Ortega's head and hops out. Ortega lands an overhand right. Wright scores with a hook to the body. Ortega takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Ortega slips under a jab from Wright. Wright misses with an uppercut. Ortega swings and misses with a hook to the body.
As Ortega backs away, Wright returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Ortega throws a poor cross that misses
and Wright counters with a straight right hand. Wright dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Wright buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ortega misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wright.
Ortega drives through and clinches with Wright against the cage.
Wright blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Ortega working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortega wants to take the fight to the mat but Wright manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Wright escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ortega jabs at Wright's body. Carter Wright is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ortega gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Wright. Ortega tries to clinch up but Wright circles away and keeps his distance. Wright tries a head kick but it misses.

Ortega jabs Wright to the body, keeping him at a distance. Ortega lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Ortega tries to clinch and Wright counters with a nice body shot. Wright throws a head kick but Ortega moves out of range.

That's going to take a lot out of Noah Ortega. Wright looks for the body kick but Ortega saw that one coming. Wright throws a head kick that misses. Wright is pressed up against the cage. Ortega has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wright down to the mat. Wright avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Wright dips to his left and cracks Ortega with an uppercut! Ortega shoots in and drives through. Wright sprawls well. Wright's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ortega under the eye. Ortega's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Wright connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Ortega scrambles back to his feet. Ortega misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wright.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A jab from Wright misses. A big left from Ortega misses. Ortega closes the distance looking to clinch and Wright counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wright with a jab. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ortega. Wright thinks about countering with a head kick. Wright throws a shot from downtown. Ortega moves away and avoids it. Ortega keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Wright fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Wright thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Ortega if he has to take too many more of those.

Wright is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. A jab from Ortega misses. Wright misses with an uppercut. Ortega saw that one coming. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ortega misses with an uppercut
and Wright counters with a nice body shot. Wright throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Ortega fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wright manages to avoid it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Carter Wright dominated that round. That's time! Wright's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Wright avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Wright throws a hook to the side of Ortega's head but Ortega sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ortega darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Wright misses the jab. Ortega shoots in for a double leg but Wright sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Wright looks to land a body kick but Ortega moved away. Ortega feints the counter takedown. Wright moves out of range of the leg kick from Ortega. Nice body kick from Wright. Wright will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A jab from Wright finds it's way through Ortega's defenses. Wright misses with the combination.

Ortega drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wright defends it well. Wright jabbing away but nothing is landing. Wright rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ortega moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ortega shoots in looking for a takedown. Wright tries to sprawl out of it but Ortega keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wright manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Wright throws a head kick that half lands.
Carter Wright is winning the standup battle so far. Wright throws a push kick but Ortega slaps the foot to one side. Ortega changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Wright jabs Ortega right on the nose. Ortega blinks but takes it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wright tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ortega was well out of range. Poor timing from Wright. Ortega moves out of range of the body kick from Wright.
Ortega wants to clinch. Wright's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Wright duly obliges. Wright is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ortega can do to turn this around? Ortega is trying desperately to land a takedown but Wright is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Ortega. Wright connects with a nice looking jab.

Carter Wright dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Wright throws a push kick but Ortega slaps the foot to one side. Ortega scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Ortega is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Wright is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ortega working the strikes but Wright uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Ortega throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Wright controlling the position for now. Ortega thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ortega looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Wright is doing well to control the position and prevent Ortega from advancing to side control. Ortega wants to control but Wright is keeping him busy.

Ortega is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Ortega controlling the pace for now. Wright is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Ortega thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Ortega lands a couple of good shots and Wright has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Ortega trying to control. Ortega missing with strikes from the back. Wright staying busy and making it hard for Ortega to control. Ortega scores with punches from the back.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Good control from Ortega. Ortega has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Ortega scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wright is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Ortega.
A lull in the action here.
Ortega looking to break Wright's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Wright remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Ortega will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Noah Ortega has got the better of the ground game so far. Ortega has good solid back control here. Ortega wants to control but Wright is keeping busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortega might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Wright haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Ortega is not going to allow Wright to sit and survive in this position. Well, with Ortega on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Wright is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Ortega is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Ortega throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Wright tries to roll but Ortega sticks to his back.
Ortega looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Wright is controlling Ortega 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard. Noah Ortega has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ortega throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Both fighters are breathing heavily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wright won't allow Ortega to sweep him here.
And that's the end of the fight! Noah Ortega comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Wright has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
