The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taranin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Taranin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Taranin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Taranin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Weaver tries to buck Taranin off but Taranin is having none of it.

Taranin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Weaver is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Taranin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Weaver knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Taranin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Weaver, who protects the arm well.

Maksim Taranin decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
The defeated Hunter Weaver had this to say: 'Is that all you needed me for? Good. I've had to piss like a racehorse since the fight started.'.
