PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joon Sang Hun (ranked 5081 p4p, 24208 weight class) and Adrian Sterling (ranked 419 p4p, 503 weight class). Sterling has chosen Snake by Lil Keed as his entrance music. Adrian Sterling told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joon Sang Hun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adrian Sterling!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sang Hun looks to land a left hand but Sterling moved out of range nicely.

Sterling shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sterling showed some decent athleticism there.
Sang Hun wants to control but Sterling is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sterling in particular looking to stall.

Sterling prevents Sang Hun from improving his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sterling tries to pass to full mount but Sang Hun defends it.
Sterling uses his free foot to push down on Sang Hun's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sang Hun.

Sang Hun tries to control Sterling's body but Sterling pushes him off. Sang Hun squirms to his side and now Sterling has his back!

Sterling has the hooks in. Sang Hun is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Sterling tries to keep control of the position but Sang Hun is staying busy.
Sterling is riding his opponent, not letting Sang Hun buck him off.
Sterling wants to control the position but Sang Hun frees himself and scrambles - Sterling manages to regain control in side control.

Sterling is looking to take a break and control but Sang Hun is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sang Hun tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Sterling happy to just control the position for now.
Sterling's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Sang Hun is trying to get back to half guard.
Sterling wants to control but Sang Hun is keeping him busy.
Sang Hun manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sang Hun is looking for a sweep. Sterling is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sterling content to control rather than advance.

Sterling is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sang Hun has managed to free his arm - good work.
Sang Hun controlling the position well.
Sang Hun has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sterling fails with the takedown
and Sang Hun cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Adrian Sterling dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Sang Hun takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

It looks like Adrian Sterling has been cut.
Sang Hun ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sterling moves away.
Sang Hun missing with a left hand there. Sterling was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sang Hun defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sterling.
Sterling misses with a right hand
and Sang Hun counters with a left and a right that stings Sterling.
Sterling shoots in for a double leg but Sang Hun sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Sterling is fighting to break Sang Hun's control of his arms but Sang Hun is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sang Hun looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sterling is one step ahead there.

Sterling stands and throws Sang Hun's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sang Hun is looking for a sweep.
Sterling wants to control but Sang Hun is keeping him busy.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Sang Hun tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sterling wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Sang Hun is not content to let Sterling control the position.

Sterling goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Sang Hun rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Sterling's guard! Nice work there by Sang Hun!
Sang Hun is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Sterling wants to sweep but no luck.

Sterling is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sang Hun slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Sterling has his foot on Sang Hun's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sang Hun works his way back into a safe position though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sterling has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Sang Hun doesn't defend quickly enough and Sterling has managed to lock this one up! Can Sang Hun escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Sterling on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Adrian Sterling!
Adrian Sterling decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
