Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rico Cole (ranked 1524 p4p, 1079 weight class) and Johnny Bronco (ranked 211 p4p, 156 weight class). Cole comes to the cage accompanied by Gerardo's Rico Suave. Bronco has chosen The Horses - Daryl Braithwaite as his entrance music. Johnny Bronco has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 43 - 33 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Rico Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 17 - 1, fighting out of New York, Johnny Bronco!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ben Hemmingworth and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole moves forwards but Bronco connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Bronco's jab looks to have found its range, popping Cole under the eye.

Cole is rocked!

Bronco sends Cole crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Bronco is motioning to the referee to let Cole up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Oh Cole is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cole throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Cole swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Bronco feints and as Cole raises his hands in defense, Bronco changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Cole escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bronco gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've been hearing good reports from Cole's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Bronco postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bronco accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cole is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bronco has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Bronco is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Cole lying in Bronco's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Bronco decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Cole taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Johnny Bronco!
