Lafayette has chosen Radar Love - Golden Earring as his entrance music. Rene Lafayette acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Pierre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rene Lafayette!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre connects with a body shot that sends Lafayette's belly button to the back.
Pierre misses with a straight left.
Lafayette changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Lafayette misses with a body kick.
Lafayette avoids the body shot from Pierre.
Lafayette misses with an uppercut.
Pierre misses with a two punch combination.
Pierre misses with a left hand

and Lafayette counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lafayette trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Pierre wants to get back to his feet but Lafayette is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pierre trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

George Pierre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pierre's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lafayette under the eye.
That kick from Lafayette tenderised Pierre's leg. Pierre is trying to keep his angry face on.
Lafayette lands a head kick. Pierre smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Pierre feints a jab promting Lafayette to slip. Pierre then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lafayette slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pierre throws a hook but Lafayette blocks it.
Pierre takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Pierre throws a shot from downtown. Lafayette moves away and avoids it.
Lafayette bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Pierre tries to bum rush Lafayette with a series of wild strikes but Lafayette uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Pierre misses with an uppercut.
Pierre is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Lafayette uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pierre.
Pierre connects with a body shot.
Lafayette slips under a jab.
Pierre misses with a wild body shot.
Pierre tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lafayette was well out of range. Poor timing from Pierre.
Lafayette thuds a left hand into Pierre's body.

Pierre throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lafayette.
Pierre moves out of range of the body kick from Lafayette.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Pierre!
Pierre misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lafayette stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Pierre keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
George Pierre is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lafayette needs to keep his hands up - Pierre had a free shot at his head there.
Lafayette throws a quick inside leg kick.
Pierre fails to land with a series of punches.
Lafayette tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Lafayette uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pierre.
Lafayette avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Pierre fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lafayette manages to avoid it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lafayette is looking to chop away at Pierre's legs.
Lafayette cracks Pierre with a right hand to the side of the head.

Pierre is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lafayette.
Pierre misses with a looping left.
Pierre scores with a shot to the body.
Lafayette showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pierre.
Pierre uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Lafayette has time to react.
Pierre bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Lafayette's head backwards.
Pierre takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Pierre misses with a looping right.
Lafayette tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Lafayette lands a head kick. Pierre smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Pierre lands with a hook. Lafayette tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Lafayette ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
The fighters circling - Pierre throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Pierre falls off balance throwing a combination

and Lafayette counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

George Pierre dominated that round.
The cut man is working on George Pierre's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pierre swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And Lafayette tries to counter it with a takedown but Pierre pushes his down on his head and steps out.
A big left from Pierre misses.
Pierre misses with a hook.
Lafayette drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Pierre defends it well.
Pierre throws a series of punches but Lafayette moves out of range.
Pierre scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Pierre misses with a body shot.
Pierre scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Pierre misses with a looping right.
Lafayette with the counter takedown but Pierre avoids it easily.
Pierre misses with a lunging right hand

and Lafayette counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Pierre is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lafayette can do to turn this around?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lafayette wants to pass the guard but Pierre is defending well.
Lafayette trying to control the action but Pierre is working from the bottom.

Lafayette is trying to control. Pierre wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Lafayette looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Lafayette is trying for a kimura here. Pierre looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Lafayette wins by kimura!

After winning the bout, Rene Lafayette thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
