Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Art Bowers (ranked 1654 p4p, 1422 weight class) and Sovor Trandel (ranked 218 p4p, 188 weight class). Trandel has chosen Fuel and Fire - Bride as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Bowers misses.
Trandel swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Bowers has been working on his boxing with his coaches at New York Public Gym in the buildup to the fight.

and Trandel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Trandel decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bowers's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Trandel is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bowers defends it well.
Bowers won't allow Trandel to pass to mount.

Trandel is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Trandel is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bowers has managed to free his arm - good work.
Bowers is trying to stand.

Trandel is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bowers sees it coming and defends easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bowers really wants to buck Trandel off and get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Trandel is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Bowers has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Bowers!

Trandel is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bowers is aware though and is defending well.
Bowers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Bowers buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Bowers throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
It seemed like Trandel was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
A telegraphed right hand from Bowers misses the target.
And Trandel tries to counter it with a takedown but Bowers pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Donk. Bowers catches Trandel right on the button with a cross.
Art Bowers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A decent looking cross lands there for Bowers.
Bowers throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Bowers lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Trandel moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Bowers sizes up Trandel with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Trandel takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

and Trandel counters with a left to the body.

Trandel looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Bowers catches Trandel with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Bowers, as that shot connected.

Trandel bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
And Trandel tries to counter it with a takedown but Bowers pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Bowers works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Trandel moves out of range of the body kick from Bowers.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Trandel! But no joy.
Bowers throws a poor cross that misses
and Trandel counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Trandel ducks under a wild hook from Bowers.
Trandel changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

It looks like Art Bowers has been cut.

Bowers throws a jab when Trandel was well out of range.

and Trandel counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Trandel postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bowers wants to stand and escape but Trandel is having none of it.
Trandel wants to control from the top but Bowers keeps moving.
Trandel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bowers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Trandel looking to sit in guard and control but Bowers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Trandel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bowers's guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
