Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ikuma Arishima (ranked 1966 p4p, 1218 weight class) and Johnny Slater (ranked 252 p4p, 166 weight class). Arishima comes into the arena with Fight Music blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ikuma Arishima! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Slater! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slater clinches up with Arishima and pushes him back against the cage. Slater tries for a takedown but Arishima manages to get underhooks.
Slater drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Arishima breaks from the clinch.
Arishima tests Slater's chin there with a solid looking shot. Slater shoots in looking for a takedown. Arishima tries to sprawl out of it but Slater keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Arishima manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Ikuma Arishima has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Slater. Arishima wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slater shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Arishima to counter with a crisp jab. Arishima lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Slater tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Arishima defends well and Slater ends up having to push Arishima into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slater takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Slater with a poor takedown and Arishima counters with a straight right hand. We've been told by Arishima's head coaches at Canucks Combat Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Slater looks winded! Slater doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. We've been informed that Slater has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Arishima ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Slater doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Arishima scores with a three punch combo!
Arishima lands a left and a right that send Slater crashing to the mat, dazed. Arishima thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Slater is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Slater ducks into an uppercut from Arishima and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ikuma Arishima! A pretty intense looking Ikuma Arishima took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
