PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kastav Kvinchal (ranked 853 p4p, 1021 weight class) and Bryce Helix (ranked 48 p4p, 58 weight class). Kvinchal kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Gangsta's Paradise. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kastav Kvinchal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bryce Helix!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Francis DeMontford and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Helix looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Helix lets loose with a powerful body kick. Kvinchal will feel that in the morning.
We've been hearing reports that Kvinchal has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Kvinchal looks to throw the jab but Helix is out of range.
Helix looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Helix throws a wild body kick that Kvinchal sees coming a mile off.
Kvinchal fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Helix shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kvinchal is trying to defend but Helix finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kvinchal wants to control but Helix is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kvinchal is controlling Helix's trapped leg to prevent Helix from advancing to side control.
Kvinchal is trying to get back to full guard.

Helix is taking a breather. Kvinchal says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Helix really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kvinchal. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kvinchal is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Helix pulls his head out easily.

Kvinchal wants to control but Helix is having none of it.

Helix breaks from Kvinchal's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Kvinchal is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Helix tries to control but Kvinchal wriggling away.
Helix looking to control and managing it successfully.
Kvinchal is in all sorts of trouble here.

Helix controlling the pace for now.
It looks like Helix might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kvinchal wants to control but Helix is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kvinchal bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Kvinchal is fighting to break Helix's control of his arms but Helix is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kvinchal wants to control from the top but Helix keeps moving.
Helix preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kvinchal with a flurry of punches that miss.
Kvinchal trying to control but Helix is working from the bottom.
Helix wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Helix can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kvinchal controls the pace.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bryce Helix dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Kvinchal misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kvinchal shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Helix is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Kvinchal with a body shot.
Helix misses with a looping left.
A big left from Helix misses.
Kvinchal shoots in looking for a takedown but Helix manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kvinchal's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kastav Kvinchal. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kvinchal fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Helix on the side of the head.
Nice straight punches there by Kvinchal. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kvinchal.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Helix wants to get back to full guard.
Kvinchal thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Helix wants to control but Kvinchal is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Helix tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Kvinchal has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Kvinchal tries to control but Helix wriggling away.
Kvinchal looking to finish with strikes here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Helix wants to hold on but Kvinchal pushes him away.
Kvinchal throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Helix because Kvinchal loaded up on that one.

Kvinchal goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Helix turns into him and now he's in Kvinchal's guard.

Kvinchal has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Helix can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Helix has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kvinchal had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Helix defends it easily.
Helix scoring with some ground and pound.

Helix controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Helix wants to control from the top but Kvinchal keeps moving.

Helix has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kvinchal to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Helix is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kvinchal pulls down on the head and he's put Helix to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kastav Kvinchal!
