Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charles Mesquita (ranked 490 p4p, 1156 weight class) and John Fisher (ranked 54 p4p, 116 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charles Mesquita! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, John Fisher! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mesquita shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Fisher throws out a counter right but Mesquita avoids it with no problem. Mesquita tries to clinch but Fisher moves away and Fisher makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Mesquita with a lazy takedown attempt and Fisher counters with a straight right hand. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mesquita. Fisher appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charles Mesquita. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mesquita misses with a takedown and Fisher counters with a lovely straight right hand! Mesquita shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fisher pinned against the cage. Fisher gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Fisher looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice takedown defense from Fisher. No joy for Mesquita on that attempt. Mesquita shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fisher is trying to defend but Mesquita finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Mesquita not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mesquita sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Fisher defending well though. Fisher keeps control of the position for the meantime. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mesquita thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fisher's head. Mesquita thows a huge punch but Fisher dodges it nicely.
Fisher avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mesquita. Mesquita winds up and cracks Fisher with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fisher has hold of Mesquita's hands but Mesquita slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Mesquita thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mesquita slows the pace down in half guard. Mesquita has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mesquita is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Fisher looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Mesquita throwing shots but Fisher is blocking nicely. Fisher is refusing to be controlled, as Mesquita sits in half guard. Fisher trying to control but Mesquita postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mesquita is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Mesquita is trying to control the action in half guard but Fisher is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Fisher is trying to get back to full guard. Mesquita not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Mesquita looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fisher with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Mesquita working the head and body with strikes. Fisher is defending against the submission attempts here by Mesquita.
Mesquita slips a nice elbow through Fisher's hands, connecting with Fisher's forehead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mesquita sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Fisher defending well though. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mesquita connects with a nice short shot to Fisher's temple. Mesquita working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Mesquita thows a huge punch but Fisher dodges it nicely.
Mesquita maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Fisher could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mesquita has cracked it and Fisher is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mesquita!
