Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jason Mason (ranked 1859 p4p, 1020 weight class) and Diego Garcia (ranked 254 p4p, 149 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Diego Garcia! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed right hand from Mason misses the target. Mason paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
It looks like Diego Garcia has been cut. Garcia throws a leg kick which misses Mason's front leg but catches the back leg as Mason tries to avoid it. Mason takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Mason throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Garcia counters with a slapping leg kick. Mason throws a front kick aimed at Garcia's knee but Garcia avoids it well. Garcia chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mason can pounce on him.

Mason misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A jab from Garcia does it's job there. Garcia blocks a head kick by Mason.
Garcia buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Garcia takes one on the button. This has been an exciting period of action! Mason scores with a sloppy right hand. Garcia should have avoided that one. Garcia takes a swing at Mason's ribcage but misses. The fighters circle momentarily. Garcia darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Excellent takedown into side control there by Mason. Garcia manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason is trying to control but can't.
Garcia is pressing down on Mason's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mason is holding on for now. Mason keeping control of the position. Mason is trying to control but Garcia passes into side control!
Garcia tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Mason looking for a sweep but Garcia has passed into full mount! Oh no!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mason is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason wants to hold on but Garcia pushes him away. Garcia wants to finish this one by submission but Mason is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Garcia. Garcia wants to control the pace but Mason is squirming around nicely. Mason tries to hold on but Garcia postures up. Garcia wants to control the pace but Mason is squirming around nicely. Mason is trying to escape the mount.

Garcia trying to control but he's not successful this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mason just holding on. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mason regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Diego Garcia dominated that round. The cut man is working on Diego Garcia's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. No luck with that takedown attempt from Mason. Garcia lands a really nice looking cross but Mason seems unphased.
Garcia lands a right hook to the body.
Garcia fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mason manages to avoid it. A left lands for Mason. Mason closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mason lands in his opponent's guard. Garcia is trying to keep Mason in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mason looking to pass the guard. Mason trying to control but Garcia is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garcia not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mason wants to control from the top but Garcia keeps moving. Mason won't allow Garcia to sweep him here. Garcia has his foot on Mason's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mason works his way back into a safe position though. Mason looking to pass the guard. Garcia wants to sweep here but Mason controlling him for the moment. Garcia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mason doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mason manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Garcia being controlled here, momentarily.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Nice shot by Garcia. A looping hook to the body misses from Mason. Garcia does a little dance to reset his feet. Mason misses the jab. Mason scores with a jab. Garcia cracks Mason with a good jab. Mason shoots for a takedown but Garcia saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Garcia tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Garcia ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. A nice inside leg kick there by Garcia. That's going to slow Mason down. Mason steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Garcia. That one must have hurt. Garcia bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Garcia doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garcia takes a shot right to the bread basket. Mason dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Garcia. That did some damage! Mason misses with a hook. Garcia ducked under it nicely. We've been told by Mason's head coaches at Mentor Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. A slapping leg kick lands for Mason.
Mason looks to land a left hand but Garcia moved out of range nicely. Garcia fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mason has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Garcia slips a jab from Mason. Mason tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Garcia was well out of range. Poor timing from Mason. Mason tries to score with a low kick but Garcia moves his leg out of the way. Mason on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Mason throws a lazy uppercut
and Garcia counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. A slow jab from Mason misses its intended target. Garcia slips under a jab from Mason. Garcia scoring well with a low kick there.
Mason is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Mason connects with a jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mason shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Garcia tries to get to full guard but Mason has control of the leg. Well, if Mason is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jason Mason will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Diego Garcia's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Mason waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Garcia. Mason takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Garcia moves out of range of the body kick. Garcia turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Garcia moves out of range of the strikes. Garcia turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Jason Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Garcia throws a jab when Mason was well out of range. Garcia's corner calls for a 1-2. Garcia obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Mason slips a jab from Garcia. Mason throws a hook to the side of Garcia's head but Garcia sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A jab from Mason misses. A low kick from Mason is predictable there and Garcia connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Mason with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Mason closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mason is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Garcia is looking for a sweep. Mason is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mason trying to control the action but Garcia is working from the bottom. Garcia is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Mason is trying to control the action in half guard but Garcia is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Mason is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Garcia doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mason. Garcia is pressing down on Mason's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garcia trying to control the position here. Jason Mason overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Garcia looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mason is one step ahead there. Mason got a little sloppy there for a moment and Garcia has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mason has managed to get both his arms back between Garcia's legs - danger averted. Garcia bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mason's guard.
Mason is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Mason escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Garcia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Garcia slips nicely into half guard. Mason is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Mason is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Garcia pulls his head out easily. Mason is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Diego Garcia. I think Garcia has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
