Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Agansing Rai (ranked 348 p4p, 446 weight class) and Diego Armando (ranked 46 p4p, 58 weight class). Rai comes to the cage accompanied by Break Stuff. Diego Armando told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Agansing Rai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Diego Armando!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armando throws a series of punches but Rai moves out of range.
Armando looks to throw the jab but Rai is out of range.
Armando scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Diego Armando seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rai bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Armando's head backwards.
Armando cracks Rai with a right hand to the side of the head.
Armando has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Armando lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Rai fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Armando has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Armando must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee asks Rai politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rai prefers to stall for the moment though.

Rai tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rai has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Armando holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

That was a close round but I would say that Agansing Rai will probably get the nod.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Rai has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Rai and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
