PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Duggan (ranked 2519 p4p, 22862 weight class) and Just Fight Scappy Do (ranked 320 p4p, 552 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Duggan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Just Fight Scappy Do!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duggan walks into a jab.
Duggan lands a nice shot to the body.
Scappy Do is looking to clinch.
Duggan looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Scappy Do misses with an uppercut
enabling Duggan to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Just Fight Scappy Do has been cut.
Scappy Do connects with a nice looking jab.
Duggan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Scappy Do connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Duggan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Scappy Do swings widly with a right hand
and Duggan counters with a straight right hand.
Scappy Do throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Duggan on the side of the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Scappy Do pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Duggan back to the cage. Scappy Do follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Scappy Do fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Duggan has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Scappy Do shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

It looked like Duggan was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Scappy Do.

Just Fight Scappy Do is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Duggan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Scappy Do buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Scappy Do scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Scappy Do connects with a nice looking jab.

and Scappy Do counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Duggan throws a leg kick that misses.
Scappy Do ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Duggan moves away.
Scappy Do has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Duggan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close round but I would say that Jim Duggan will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Duggan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Scappy Do manages to avoid it.

Duggan throws a body shot but no joy.
A little jabbing left from Scappy Do on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Scappy Do moves out of range of the strikes.

Just Fight Scappy Do seems to be getting the better of the standup.
A nice leg kick from Duggan, right into the meat of the thigh.
Duggan throws a good cross that connects.
Scappy Do bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Duggan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Scappy Do.
Scappy Do throws a body punch but Duggan moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duggan throws a body shot but no joy.
Scappy Do cracks Duggan with an open hand slap.

Duggan drops his hands momentarily and Scappy Do takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Duggan winds up and cracks Scappy Do with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Duggan seems to be working for a kimura but Scappy Do defends the submission attempt.

Scappy Do is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

That has opened up Just Fight Scappy Do's cut even more.
Duggan closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Scappy Do turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Duggan connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Duggan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Duggan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Scappy Do.
Some bone on bone action there as Scappy Do checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Duggan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Scappy Do displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Duggan throws out the jab.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Duggan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Duggan showed some decent athleticism there.
Scappy Do is trying to control but Duggan manages to pass to mount!

Duggan is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Duggan cracks Scappy Do with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Scappy Do from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Duggan working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Scappy Do is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Duggan has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Scappy Do taps out!
