PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ri Zaadha (ranked 1644 p4p, 889 weight class) and Vasil Petrov (ranked 220 p4p, 120 weight class). Zaadha kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is HonestKey- When I Wake Up. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Zaadha. Petrov does a little dance to reset his feet.

Zaadha moves into range and clinches up with Petrov.
Petrov goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Petrov breaks the clinch.

Zaadha lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Petrov circles away quickly and effectively.
It seemed like Petrov was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Zaadha stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Petrov.
Petrov checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Petrov throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Zaadha stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Ri Zaadha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Zaadha uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Zaadha fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Petrov manages to avoid it.
Zaadha tries to close the distance and clinch up but Petrov swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Zaadha takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Petrov crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Zaadha - the referee stops the clock and Petrov gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Zaadha. Petrov manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

As Petrov backs away, Zaadha returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Petrov does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Petrov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Vasil Petrov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Petrov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
