PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lars Kay (ranked 928 p4p, 634 weight class) and Keizo Kasai (ranked 97 p4p, 70 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Keizo Kasai!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kasai ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Kasai looks to throw the jab but Kay is out of range.
Nice uppercut lands for Kay. That snapped Kasai's head back.
Kay misses with a right hand
and Kasai counters with a straight right hand.
Kasai tests Kay's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A combination from Kasai does no damage.
Kay sizes up Kasai with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Kay showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kasai.
Kay tries to counter with a takedown but Kasai is quick to defend against it.

Kay is standing up over Kasai. Kasai looks to escape but Kay dives into side control.
Kasai felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kay looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Kasai is avoiding damage well.

Kasai really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kay is nestled in close to Kasai, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Kasai is trying is best to control the position here.
Kasai is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kay scores with a couple of nice shots.
Kay thows a huge punch but Kasai dodges it nicely.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kay seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Kay takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kay connects with a nice short shot to Kasai's temple.

Kasai bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kay's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kasai can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kasai takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kay avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kasai looks to land a right hand but Kay moved out of range.
Kay dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
