The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Island closes the distance and pushes Halme back into the cage.
Island content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Halme trying to control the position but instead, Island has worked for underhooks and has pushed Halme into the cage.

Island lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Island has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Halme uses from the top position.
Island has control of Halme's left arm, preventing Halme from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Halme avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Island might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Halme wanted to stand there but Island had control of the position.

Halme must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Island has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Halme really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Island. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Island wants to sweep but no luck.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Halme throwing strikes from guard but Island blocks nicely.
Halme is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Halme wants to control from the top but Island keeps moving.
Island seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Island has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Halme lands a two punch combo.

It looks like Mason Island has been cut.
Halme misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Halme gets tackled into the cage by Island. Island maintains the clinch.
Halme lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Island gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Island definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Island's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Halme trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Halme tries to hold on but Island pushes him away.
Island controlling the position easily from mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Halme is in a horrible position here. Island smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Halme doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Island moves into the clinch.
Halme tries to break free but Island pushes him back against the cage.
Halme tries to score a body lock takedown but Island shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Halme jumps guard but Island stands there with Halme around his waist. Halme gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mason Island has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Halme.

Island darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Halme is trying to escape back to his feet but Island uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Island is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Halme's half guard.
Halme is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Island scores with a couple of nice shots.

Island lands with a kick to the temple. Halme shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Halme closes this distance looking for a takedown but Island circles away.

Island decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Halme scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Island manages to mount him!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Island landing strikes from the mount and Halme is in trouble!
Island cracks Halme with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
