Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between William Wallace (ranked 551 p4p, 1363 weight class) and Chris John (ranked 85 p4p, 196 weight class). John has chosen Crawling as his entrance music. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Chris John will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

John tries to sprawl but Wallace drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Wallace is looking for a kimura but John is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wallace to get the leverage.
Wallace definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if John can do anything to dispel that myth.

Wallace is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
John really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wallace. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
John throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Wallace frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wallace takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
John wants to control but Wallace is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wallace pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Wallace with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
John tries to hold on but Wallace postures up.

Wallace wants to finish this one by submission but John is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Wallace.

John defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Wallace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wallace controlling the pace for now.
John wants to control but Wallace is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Wallace jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but John manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Wallace wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by John, who protects the arm well.

Wallace looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The strikes coming from Wallace are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Wallace is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but John is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
John is not content to let Wallace control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wallace working away.
Wallace in side control lands a decent elbow.

Wallace wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by John, who protects the arm well.
Wallace trying to control the action but John is working from the bottom.
Wallace works to advance to full mount. John defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
John wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wallace raining down hammerfists from mount.

Wallace working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. John looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Wallace! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). William Wallace!
