Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Devon Sage (ranked 606 p4p, 1340 weight class) and Rickson Caceres (ranked 57 p4p, 126 weight class). Devon Sage has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Devon Sage!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rickson Caceres!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sage lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Caceres darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Sage is pressing down on Caceres's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Sage working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Caceres doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Caceres manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Sage lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Caceres has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sage is working away from the top position though.

Sage's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sage is trying to stick to Caceres's back but Caceres is turning into Sage. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sage's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Caceres.

Caceres closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Caceres is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sage is just riding it out for now. Caceres eventually gives up the hold.

Rickson Caceres showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Caceres manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sage on his heels. He'll look to pass Sage's guard now, I'm sure.

Caceres shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sage manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Caceres seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sage does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Sage escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Caceres gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Caceres thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sage's head.
Sage is looking for a sweep. Caceres is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
Caceres is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Sage's shoulder. That is not cool.

You can see the frustration on Sage's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Caceres really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Sage.

Sage is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Caceres.

Caceres looking to break Sage's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Sage remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Caceres will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Caceres has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

I think Caceres has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
