Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darren Harged (ranked 3096 p4p, 24790 weight class) and Caleb Paterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Caleb Paterson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paterson tries for a takedown but Harged circles away easily
and Harged connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Paterson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Harged as he jumps to the side.
A little feinted left hand from Harged on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Paterson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Paterson shoots in for a takedown but Harged shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Darren Harged has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Caleb Paterson.

Paterson shoots in and drives through. Harged sprawls well.

Harged has managed to clinch.
Paterson is trying to pull guard but Harged turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harged feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Paterson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Harged defends well and Paterson ends up having to push Harged into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Harged closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Paterson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harged. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Harged seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Paterson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Paterson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Paterson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Harged manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Paterson manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harged is really struggling to control Paterson but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Harged won't allow Paterson to get back to his feet.
Paterson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Harged forces his way into half guard.
Harged uses his free foot to push down on Paterson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Paterson.
Paterson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Paterson tries to buck Harged off so he can stand up but Harged has got his back now - this could be big trouble! He's slapped on a rear naked choke that looks really tight! Paterson falls backwards, slamming Harged to the mat but Harged holds on tight! Paterson is forced to tap and this one is all over!
