Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mfer Phol (ranked 667 p4p, 427 weight class) and Wanderlei Rua (ranked 38 p4p, 22 weight class). Wanderlei Rua has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mfer Phol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wanderlei Rua!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phol blocks a head kick by Rua.
Phol throws out a loose jab but Rua uses good head movement to avoid it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Phol. Rua does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rua looks to land a left hand but Phol moved out of range nicely.
Rua misses with a body shot
and Phol counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Phol swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rua let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Mfer Phol seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Phol throws a body shot but no joy.
Phol misses with a wild body shot.
Rua looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Phol goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Rua has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Rua moves out of range of the strikes.

and Phol counters with a left and a right that stings Rua.

Phol stuns Rua with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Phol lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rua at a distance.
Rua slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rua was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Phol swings widly with a right hand
and Rua counters with a big right hand! Oh Phol is in trouble here! Rua follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
