Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcos Furriel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Klaus Von Alkum!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Furriel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Von Alkum felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

I was talking to Furriel's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Furriel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Von Alkum defends it easily.
Von Alkum stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Furriel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Furriel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Furriel connects with a nice short shot to Von Alkum's temple.
