PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Riley Knox (ranked 20045 p4p, 17564 weight class) and Daniel Dimitrov (ranked 214 p4p, 226 weight class). Knox's entrance music is Roy Jones Jr - I Smoke, I Drink feat. Mr. Magic & Youngbloodz). A fine choice. Dimitrov has chosen Drake - Energy as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 42 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel Dimitrov!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox slips a jab and a cross from Dimitrov.
Knox tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Dimitrov pushes Knox up against the ropes in a clinch.
Knox misses with a short punch on the inside.
Knox goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Dimitrov told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Dimitrov misses with a hook from the clinch.
Knox scores with a nice hook to the head.
A right hook to the body lands for Knox.
Knox tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Dimitrov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dimitrov fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The fighters circling - Dimitrov throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Knox drives through and clinches with Dimitrov against the ropes.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Knox.
Knox misses with the head strike.
Knox stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Knox throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Dimitrov blocks it with crossed arms.
Knox misses with a knee strike.
Knox misses with a hook to the ribs.

Knox lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Knox makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Knox unloads a knee to the mid-section. Dimitrov lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Dimitrov looks winded!

Dimitrov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A head kick by Dimitrov misses
and Knox counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Dimitrov to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Knox!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Riley Knox!
A relieved looking Riley Knox thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
