PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Death Knell (ranked 699 p4p, 1193 weight class) and Eyvind Skallagrimsson (ranked 104 p4p, 156 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eyvind Skallagrimsson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Skallagrimsson.
We've been told by Knell's head coaches at Warrior that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Skallagrimsson swings for the body but Knell moves out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Knell on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Skallagrimsson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Knell's head.
Skallagrimsson throws a low kick but it's checked well by Knell.
Skallagrimsson just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromKnell.
Nice straight punches there by Skallagrimsson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Skallagrimsson.

It looks like Eyvind Skallagrimsson has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Skallagrimsson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Knell paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Skallagrimsson throws a front kick aimed at Knell's knee but Knell avoids it well.
Knell appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Skallagrimsson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Eyvind Skallagrimsson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Knell is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Skallagrimsson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Knell on the side of the head.

As Skallagrimsson backs away, Knell returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Knell takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Knell's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Skallagrimsson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Knell scrambles back to his feet.

and Knell connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Skallagrimsson - that will leave a mark!

Skallagrimsson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Skallagrimsson lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Skallagrimsson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Skallagrimsson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Knell's head.
Skallagrimsson wants to pass to mount but Knell is defending the position.
Skallagrimsson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Knell is looking to escape.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters circle momentarily. Skallagrimsson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Skallagrimsson shoots in looking for a takedown. Knell tries to sprawl out of it but Skallagrimsson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Knell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Skallagrimsson lands a nice looking kick to the body. Knell takes a step back to recover.
Skallagrimsson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Knell defends well and Skallagrimsson ends up having to push Knell into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

It looked like Knell was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Skallagrimsson.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Skallagrimsson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Knell moves away.
Knell walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Skallagrimsson throws a good cross that connects.
Knell bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Skallagrimsson throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Knell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A bone on bone clash there as Knell blocks the leg kick.
Knell lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Skallagrimsson scores with a jab to the body.

and Knell counters with a hugh head kick that removes Skallagrimsson from consiousness! A brutal head kick knockout!

A very excited looking Death Knell made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
