Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Slam (ranked 17 p4p, 104 weight class) and Mike Haggar (ranked 2 p4p, 14 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 26 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ben Slam! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 28 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Haggar! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good leg kick by Slam. Haggar ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Haggar moves out of range of the strikes. Haggar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Slam on the wrong end of a nice hook. Slam scores with a jab. Haggar acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Haggar scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Slam doesn't seem bothered though. Slam tries to sprawl but Haggar drives through with a takedown into half guard. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Haggar working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Haggar stops Slam from getting back to his feet.
Haggar passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Slam! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! It looks like Ben Slam has been cut. Haggar throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

That's one minute gone in the round. Haggar sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Haggar is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Ben Slam's cut is getting worse. Slam is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
