PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ezekiel Marley (ranked 1325 p4p, 1590 weight class) and Clinch King Smash Machine (ranked 201 p4p, 237 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Marley might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to EMOTIONALLY SCARRED. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smash Machine takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Marley looks to land a right hand but Smash Machine moved out of range.
Marley misses with a straight right.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Smash Machine has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Smash Machine wants to clinch up but Marley keeps it at a distance.
Smash Machine moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Marley pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Marley lands with a straight right. Smash Machine didn't see that one coming.

It looks like Clinch King Smash Machine has been cut.
Marley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smash Machine was well out of range. Poor timing from Marley.
Marley throws a leg kick

and Smash Machine counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Smash Machine thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Smash Machine tries to free his leg and advance position but Marley is retaining full guard.
Smash Machine stays in close to Marley's body and controls the position.
Smash Machine slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Smash Machine is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Marley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Smash Machine is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Marley has escaped the position, nice work there.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Marley is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Smash Machine asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Smash Machine works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Smash Machine wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Marley, who protects the arm well.

Smash Machine is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Marley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Smash Machine tries to move into full mount but can't pass Marley's legs.

and Marley counters with a nice low kick that buckles Smash Machine's knee momentarily.

Marley throws a hook but Smash Machine avoids it easily.
A jab from Marley misses.
Ezekiel Marley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marley closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Marley scores with a body shot.
Marley catches Smash Machine with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Smash Machine dives in and scores a takedown into Marley's guard.
Smash Machine is stalling in the full guard.

Smash Machine wants to free his trapped foot but Marley is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Smash Machine is looking for a kimura but Marley is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Smash Machine to get the leverage.
Marley is staying active underneath Smash Machine, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Smash Machine looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Smash Machine wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marley keeps working.
Smash Machine is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Smash Machine is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Marley doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smash Machine.
Marley pushes Smash Machine off looking to stand but Smash Machine dives back in and keeps control.

Smash Machine is looking for a kimura here.
Marley tries to kick Smash Machine off but Smash Machine keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Marley keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Marley is looking to get back to is feet but Smash Machine passes into side control.
Marley tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Smash Machine is looking for the choke from the back position but Marley is controlling his hands well.

Marley is squirming around looking to escape but he's just wriggling himself into more trouble. Smash Machine sinks in the hooks and manages to tighten his grip on a rear naked choke. Marley has no choice but to tap and Smash Machine jumps to his feet to celebrate and slick submission win!
