The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Niculescu.
Tyler lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Tyler misses the shot to the body.
Tyler swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Tyler turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Tyler throws a nice inside leg kick.
Tyler throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Niculescu missing with a left hand there. Tyler was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Tyler let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Tyler throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Niculescu sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Niculescu scores with a sloppy right hand. Tyler should have avoided that one.

It looks like Pete Tyler has been cut.

Niculescu shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Niculescu was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tyler is looking for a sweep.

Niculescu is pressing down on Tyler's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tyler is holding on for now.
We've been hearing that Niculescu has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Tyler is looking to control Niculescu's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tyler avoid being mounted?

Niculescu wants to sweep here but Tyler controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tyler postures up in Niculescu's guard and throws a big left but Niculescu blocks it.
Niculescu lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Niculescu sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tyler's guard.

Pete Tyler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Niculescu misses with a body punch
and Tyler counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Tyler lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A low kick lands for Tyler.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Niculescu misses with a looping left.
Tyler misses with a hook. Niculescu ducked under it nicely.
Tyler has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Niculescu feints and as Tyler raises his hands in defense, Niculescu changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Tyler is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Niculescu postures up and lands a big shot to Tyler's brow.
Niculescu has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Tyler quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Niculescu has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Tyler celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
