Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derrick Ryker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryo Kato!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryker tries to clinch there but Kato circles away.
A head kick misses from Kato.
Ryker fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kato, pushing him back against the cage.
Kato doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Ryker pulls guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kato wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Ryker's closed guard. He's half up but Ryker has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Ryker pivots and extends the arm, Kato falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Ryker! Well done that man!
