PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marco Paris (ranked 651 p4p, 216 weight class) and Uniesky Santaban (ranked 86 p4p, 27 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Uniesky Santaban was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marco Paris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Uniesky Santaban!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santaban loads up on a big right hand but Paris slips the punch.
Santaban throws a good cross that connects.
That kick from Santaban tenderised Paris's leg. Paris is trying to keep his angry face on.
Santaban thows a leg kick but Paris checks it
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Santaban ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Paris moves away.
Paris tries to bum rush Santaban with a series of wild strikes but Santaban uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Paris sets himself, and Santaban steps forward looking for the clinch! Paris avoids it this time.
Paris throws a body shot but no joy.
Santaban wants to counter with a clinch but Paris pushes him away.
Paris tries to clinch there but Santaban circles away.
Paris avoids the head kick by Santaban.
Paris looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A slow jab from Santaban misses its intended target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santaban throws a nice looking combination but Paris bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Paris steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Santaban.
Santaban will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Paris gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Paris drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Santaban is trying to break the clinch but Paris has him pressed against the cage.
Santaban can't break the clinch.
Paris tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marco Paris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Come on Santaban - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Santaban looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Paris has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Santaban after a bit of a struggle.
Paris jumps guard but Santaban turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Paris pulls guard effortlessly.
Santaban tries to stand but Paris is controlling from the bottom.
Santaban is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Santaban being controlled here momentarily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santaban would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Paris is on top in guard.

Paris postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Santaban is looking to stand up but Paris isn't so interested in that idea.
Paris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Paris content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Paris chips away with some ground and pound.

Santaban utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Paris postures up in Santaban's guard and throws a big left but Santaban blocks it.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Paris's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
We've been hearing that Paris has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Santaban wants to get back to his feet but Paris is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paris wants to control from the top but Santaban keeps moving.
Paris pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Santaban is keeping the position for now.
Paris scoring with some ground and pound.
Santaban working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Paris.

Paris stops Santaban from standing up.

Paris trying to control but Santaban is working from the bottom.
Paris throws an elbow that misses. Santaban uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Paris's guard. Nice move by Santaban!

Paris looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Santaban puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Santaban tries to stand and escape but Paris is controlling the position.
Paris tries to roll over but Santaban keeps him under control.

Santaban stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Paris to get to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Paris uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Santaban.
Santaban ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Paris moves away.
Paris throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Santaban slips a jab from Paris.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Marco Paris will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Santaban circles away from the clinch attempt.
Santaban is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Paris is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Paris keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Paris tries to move into range but Santaban moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

It looks like Marco Paris has been cut.

Santaban lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Paris sprawling to the canvas. Santaban follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Paris hang on?

Paris is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Santaban stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Oh Paris is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Santaban misses with a head kick.
Paris looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Santaban pounces like a tiger and cracks Paris with a vicious hook! Paris is down but not out! Santaban follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
