Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Monty Don (ranked 1739 p4p, 850 weight class) and Wes Ekwall (ranked 76 p4p, 40 weight class). Ekwall is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Enter the Sandman. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Monty Don! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wes Ekwall! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ekwall scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Don doesn't seem bothered though. Ekwall cracks Don with a right hand to the side of the head.
It looks like Monty Don has been cut. No luck for Don with that takedown attempt. Ekwall throws a head kick that misses. Don tries to counter with a takedown but Ekwall is quick to defend against it. Ekwall rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Don moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ekwall scores with a nice strike. Ekwall fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jab, jab by Don - just one landing. Don slips a jab and a cross from Ekwall.
Don throwing a counter right hand but Ekwall manages to avoid it. Ekwall jabs Don to the body, keeping him at a distance. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ekwall, as that shot connected.
Don moves out of range as Ekwall strikes. Nice shot by Don. Ekwall throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Don is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ekwall. A lazy left from Ekwall finds it's target. Ekwall connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Don's hands. Don takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Ekwall throws an overhand right that lands on Don's shoulder, as Don tries to avoid the shot. Wes Ekwall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fighters circling - Don throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Ekwall swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Don tries for a takedown but Ekwall sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Ekwall bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Don's head backwards. Ekwall lands with a cross. Don throws an overhand right that lands on Ekwall's shoulder, as Ekwall tries to avoid the shot. Ekwall pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jab by Ekwall. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ekwall tries to bum rush Don with a series of wild strikes but Don uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ekwall cracks Don with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Ekwall has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Don to stand back up!
Don is rocked! Ekwall throws an off balance right hand
and Don decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ekwall's guard. Ekwall wants to sweep here but Don controlling him for the moment. Don cracks Ekwall with a solid left hand. Don throws a big right hand that misses. Don throwing strikes from guard but Ekwall blocks nicely. Don won't allow Ekwall to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ekwall keeping moving, preventing Don from controlling successfully. Don is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ekwall avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Don throwing strikes from guard but Ekwall blocks nicely. Don forces his way into half guard. Don has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Don throwing shots but Ekwall is blocking nicely. Don thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Don landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Don is looking to take a break and control but Ekwall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Don wants to work for an arm triangle but Ekwall is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Don throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Don looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Ekwall wants to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ekwall has hold of Don's hands but Don slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Don wants to pass to mount but Ekwall is defending the position. Ekwall is staying active underneath Don, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Ekwall is looking to improve his position.
Ekwall tries to kick Don off but Don keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Don tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ekwall knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Ekwall looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Ekwall is trying to stand back up but Don is controlling him
Don lands strikes from half guard. Don controlling the pace. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Wes Ekwall dominated that round. The cut man is working on Monty Don's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Don gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ekwall. Ekwall ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Don needs to keep his hands up - Ekwall had a free shot at his head there. Ekwall has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Ekwall throws a jab but it's blocked by Don. It looked like Don was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ekwall. Don loads up on a big right hand but Ekwall slips the punch. Nice straight punches there by Ekwall. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ekwall. Ekwall swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ekwall tries to bum rush Don with a series of wild strikes but Don uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Don drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ekwall sprawls and moves away. Ekwall sends Don crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Ekwall is motioning to the referee to let Don up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A jab from Don finds it's way through Ekwall's defenses. Ekwall thuds a left hand into Don's body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ekwall connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Don momentarily.
Oh Don is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Don misses with a kick to the body.
Don seems to have got his legs back now. Ekwall throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Don sees it coming and avoids it easily. Don throws a leg kick that misses. Ekwall misses with a double jab
and Don counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Ekwall! Ekwall really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Don. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ekwall wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Don advances nicely into full mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ekwall can do anything to dispel that myth. Don in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ekwall tries to get back to half guard but can't. Don cracks Ekwall with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
This has been an exciting period of action! Don lands a big elbow. Don looking to control but Ekwall is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Don is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ekwall is surviving well by controlling Don's body position as best he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ekwall is in a horrible position here. Don smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Don raining down shots from the mount! Don with shots to the head and body - Ekwall looks very uncomfortable down there. Ekwall is squirming around, avoiding Don's attempts to control the action. Don in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Don with a couple of short strikes.
Ekwall is rocked! Don looking to control but Ekwall is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Don lands a big elbow. Ekwall is still in real trouble! Can Don finish him? Don lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Ekwall! Don sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Ekwall and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Monty Don! Monty Don retains his super heavyweight title! Our winner, Monty Don, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans. Wes Ekwall spoke after the fight, saying 'I will tell you. I have been hit harder by hooker's thighs. He has heart and is most likely using roids. No other way he can beat me. '.
