Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hong Kong (ranked 1840 p4p, 2452 weight class) and Douglas Cardozo (ranked 253 p4p, 323 weight class). Kong comes into the arena with Open Your Third Eye blaring out of the sound system. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hong Kong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Douglas Cardozo! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Lou da Vinci and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cardozo scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Kong doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Cardozo throws a hook but Kong avoids it easily. Douglas Cardozo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cardozo with a body punch. A glancing blow. Cardozo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice defenses there by Cardozo. Cardozo throws out a powerful jab. We've been hearing reports that Kong has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Cardozo misses with a lunging right hand
and Kong counters with a stiff right hand. Cardozo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Kong! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cardozo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kong is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Cardozo wants to control but Kong is keeping him busy. Cardozo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cardozo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kong knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Cardozo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kong keeps working. Kong sneaks back into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cardozo trying to mount his opponent but Kong defends it. Kong is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Kong is looking to control Cardozo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kong avoid being mounted?
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Cardozo is just content to waste time from the top position. Kong takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Cardozo tries to free his leg and advance position but Kong is retaining full guard. Cardozo postures up.
Kong manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cardozo manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cardozo is looking to cinch up a triangle. Kong throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Cardozo's body to avoid the submission. Cardozo has instead reached around Kong's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Cardozo arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Douglas Cardozo! Our winner, Douglas Cardozo, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
