With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zalt Gaanja!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gaanja misses with a wild body shot.
Hughes rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Gaanja counters with a stiff right hand.

Gaanja moves in looking to clinch but Hughes pushes him off.

Gaanja closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hughes did well to prevent Gaanja getting side control.

Hughes tries to buck Gaanja off but Gaanja is having none of it.
Hughes takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Hughes stops Gaanja from passing to mount.
Hughes manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gaanja's best efforts.
Gaanja is nestled in close to Hughes, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Gaanja is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Gaanja scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Gaanja slips a nice elbow through Hughes's hands, connecting with Hughes's forehead.
Gaanja working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hughes has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Gaanja escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Gaanja!

A big shot lands for Gaanja! That's hurt Hughes! Will he recover? Gaanja fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
