Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Read (ranked 1468 p4p, 2486 weight class) and Jake Shields (ranked 200 p4p, 329 weight class). Read comes to the cage accompanied by Fight Music. Shields has chosen Seven Nation Army as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jake Shields is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jay Read! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Shields! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shields swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Read closes the distance and clinches. Read trying to land knees to the body.
Shields tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Read tries to land knees in the clinch but Shields avoids the damage to the body. Shields jumps guard but Read stands there with Shields around his waist. Shields gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Jake Shields has got the better of the ground game so far. Shields moves nicely into side control. Read is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Shields is controlling him well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Shields wants to control the pace but Read is squirming around nicely. Read squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shields is looking to work his way around to Read's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Read is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Shields has taken his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Shields is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Shields has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Read! Can he survive? No! He's out! Shields gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

A very excited looking Jake Shields rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
