PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Konstantin Dimakov (ranked 3924 p4p, 1743 weight class) and Akira Maeda (ranked 499 p4p, 250 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Akira Maeda!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Maeda shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dimakov but Dimakov pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Maeda lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Maeda creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Maeda lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Dimakov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

A close round but Akira Maeda will probably get the nod.
That's time! Dimakov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Maeda tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dimakov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
It looked like Dimakov was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Maeda.

Dimakov is looking to counter punch.
Maeda goes for a double leg but Dimakov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dimakov continues to drive forward.

Maeda is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Dimakov can't fight it off and eventually Maeda manages to take the fight to the floor. Dimakov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Konstantin Dimakov will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dimakov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Maeda winds up and cracks Dimakov with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maeda has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

I would just about give that final round to Akira Maeda.
I think Maeda has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
