PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Noah Anderson (ranked 29 p4p, 113 weight class) and Charon Lehto (ranked 4 p4p, 20 weight class). Anderson comes to the cage accompanied by Bassically by Tei Shi. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Noah Anderson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charon Lehto!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lehto tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Anderson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lehto throws a jab when Anderson was well out of range.
A quick step to the side and Anderson tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Anderson pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Anderson looks to throw a body kick
and Lehto counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looks like Noah Anderson has been cut.
Lehto lands a glancing blow to the side of Anderson's head.
Anderson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Anderson has been working on his boxing with his coaches at House of 1000 Corpses in the buildup to the fight.
Anderson misses with a kick to the body.
Anderson looks to land a left hand but Lehto moved out of range nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lehto misses with a hook
and Anderson counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Lehto throws a sloppy head kick
and Anderson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lehto on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

That's one minute gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Lehto crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Anderson - the referee stops the clock and Lehto gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Anderson. Lehto manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Lehto throws out a loose jab but Anderson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lehto throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Anderson on the side of the head.

Noah Anderson's cut is getting worse.
Anderson lands a head kick. Lehto smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

It looks like Charon Lehto has been cut.
Anderson takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Anderson lands a jab to Lehto's midsection.
Anderson avoids the body shot from Lehto.
Anderson misses with a body shot.
Lehto shapes to counter with a head kick.
Anderson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Anderson throws a hook but Lehto blocks it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Anderson lands with a hook. Lehto tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
An inside leg kick lands from Lehto.
Lehto scores with a hook to the body. Anderson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Lehto misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Anderson.
Lehto looks winded!

Anderson drops Lehto with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Lehto looks back up at him and smiles so Anderson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Nice body punch from Anderson.
Noah Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Anderson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Anderson works Lehto's body with a nice hook.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Anderson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Lehto takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Anderson feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Lehto sprawling to the canvas! Lehto rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Anderson finish him?!

Lehto is rocked!
Anderson weaves into range and cracks Lehto right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Lehto goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Anderson is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Noah Anderson!
