Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dick Niaz (ranked 1322 p4p, 1461 weight class) and Kevin McDade (ranked 185 p4p, 198 weight class). Kevin McDade has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Dick Niaz's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dick Niaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kevin McDade!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from McDade is predictable there

and Niaz counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for McDade!
McDade gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Niaz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McDade to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McDade shrugs it off.
McDade working to try and regain half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Niaz controlling the pace for now.
McDade is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
We've been hearing good reports from Niaz's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Niaz goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now McDade is on top in guard.

Niaz tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but McDade presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Let's hope that McDade has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Niaz is looking to improve his position but McDade isn't that keen on the idea.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Niaz sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
McDade perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Niaz tries to roll over but McDade keeps him under control.
McDade is taking a breather. Niaz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Niaz goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, McDade has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Niaz but great work by McDade.

McDade is just content to waste time from the top position. Niaz takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Niaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McDade is aware though and is defending well.

Niaz is trying to control the position but McDade postures up.
Niaz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McDade can do to turn this around?

Niaz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Niaz has his foot on McDade's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McDade works his way back into a safe position though.

Niaz isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McDade stacks Niaz on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McDade!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
You can see the frustration on Niaz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Niaz checks a leg kick nicely.
McDade throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Niaz sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Niaz moves out of range of the leg kick from McDade.
Niaz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Niaz tries to clinch there but McDade circles away.
McDade keeps the fight on the outside.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McDade! But no joy.
McDade scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Niaz on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Niaz displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McDade throws out the jab.
McDade throws a leg kick which misses Niaz's front leg but catches the back leg as Niaz tries to avoid it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin McDade showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Niaz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Niaz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Dick Niaz showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Niaz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
