Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rene Dubois (ranked 5813 p4p, 5919 weight class) and Cody Rhodes (ranked 558 p4p, 561 weight class). Cody Rhodes has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rene Dubois's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rene Dubois! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Cody Rhodes ! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rhodes tries for a takedown but Dubois sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Rhodes takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Good exchange - Dubois coming out on top.
It looks like Cody Rhodes has been cut. Rhodes takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Dubois moves into range and connects with a jab. Dubois lands a jab. Dubois is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Dubois uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rhodes has time to react. Rhodes takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dubois leaves Rhodes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Dubois is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Rhodes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Dubois defending against the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rhodes throwing shots but missing, from side control. The strikes coming from Rhodes are missing the target in this wave of attacks. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dubois tries to escape but Rhodes is in control. Rhodes postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Rhodes is trying to ground and pound but Dubois uses the momentary lack of control by Rhodes to regain half guard. Rhodes is trying to control. Dubois wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Rhodes is working for a kimura but Dubois is defending it quite comfortably.
Rhodes thows a huge punch but Dubois dodges it nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rhodes stops Dubois from getting back to his feet.
Rhodes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dubois doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rhodes . Rhodes throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Rhodes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rhodes content to control rather than advance. Rhodes throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Rhodes missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Dubois has one foot on Rhodes 's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Rhodes misses with a takedown attempt letting Dubois counter with a right hand. Rene Dubois has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cody Rhodes . Rhodes fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Rhodes takes one on the chin but seems OK.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rhodes takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Dubois is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Rhodes shoots and misses and Dubois makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Rhodes takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Dubois is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rhodes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dubois. Dubois scores with a one two! Rhodes had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Dubois connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Dubois with a nice cross.
Rhodes is rocked! Rhodes needs to keep his hands up - Dubois had a free shot at his head there. Rhodes is still on wobbly legs! Can Dubois finish him? Rhodes defending well as Dubois loads up on a big left hand. Rhodes seems to have recovered his senses. Rhodes uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dubois. Dubois lands an overhand right. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Rene Dubois dominated that round. The cut man is working on Cody Rhodes 's cut. That's time! Back to the action! Rhodes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Dubois cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Dubois is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Rhodes moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Dubois lands a big right hand that sends Rhodes crashing to the mat! Dubois stays standing though and waves Rhodes back to his feet!
That has opened up Cody Rhodes 's cut even more. Rhodes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dubois swivels and escapes. Dubois connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Crack! Dubois connects with the perfect overhand right and Rhodes falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Dubois!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rene Dubois! After winning the bout, Rene Dubois thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
