These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Badges defending well as Hawat loads up on a big left hand.
Badges is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Hawat with a body shot.
Badges has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Badges throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Badges ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hawat moves away.
Hawat has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Badges sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Badges darts in and clinches Hawat up against the cage.

Hawat cracks Badges with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Badges looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Hawat finish him?

Hawat fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Badges is out of range.
Badges is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hawat.
Hawat swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Badges throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
As Badges backs away, Hawat returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Badges seems to have recovered his senses.
Hawat drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Badges's head, knocking him out cold! Hawat is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.

After the fight, Thufir Hawat was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
