Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Scott Armstrong (ranked 1909 p4p, 1835 weight class) and Arthur Pugsley (ranked 174 p4p, 168 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Armstrong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arthur Pugsley! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Armstrong swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pugsley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Pugsley trying to control the position from guard on top but Armstrong is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pugsley working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Armstrong on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Armstrong tries to get out of the position. Armstrong looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Armstrong working a defensive guard here.
Armstrong definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Pugsley is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Pugsley avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pugsley content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Pugsley wants to pass the guard but Armstrong is keeping the position.

Armstrong tries to land a sweep but no joy. Pugsley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Pugsley throwing strikes but missing.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Armstrong lands a jab to the nose. Pugsley moves to clinch but Armstrong breaks away and Armstrong makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Armstrong lands with a cross. Armstrong misses with a double jab.
Armstrong tries to bum rush Pugsley with a series of wild strikes but Pugsley uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Pugsley changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Armstrong throws a series of punches but Pugsley avoids them all with ease. Armstrong swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pugsley moves into range and clinches up with Armstrong. Pugsley stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Armstrong stalling away here and it's allowed Pugsley to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Scott Armstrong will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Armstrong misses with a wild body shot. Pugsley feints the counter takedown. Pugsley moves away from the strike by Armstrong. Armstrong throws a nice looking combination but Pugsley bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Scott Armstrong is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Armstrong lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Pugsley wants to clinch and Armstrong counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Armstrong keeps the fight on the outside. Scott Armstrong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arthur Pugsley. Armstrong keeps the fight on the outside. Scott Armstrong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Armstrong misses with a combination
and Pugsley counters with a single leg into guard. Armstrong didn't expect that. Armstrong has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pugsley off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Armstrong misses with a jab, cross combination.

so Pugsley counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. This has been an exciting period of action! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pugsley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pugsley wants to control from the top but Armstrong keeps moving. Armstrong looking for a sweep. Not yet Armstrong, not yet. Arthur Pugsley has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Armstrong defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pugsley. Armstrong takes a swing at Pugsley's ribcage but misses. Armstrong thows a left - swing and a miss! Pugsley drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Armstrong defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pugsley is defended easily by Armstrong. Pugsley takes one on the button. Pugsley closes the distance and pushes Armstrong back into the cage. Pugsley jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Armstrong walks away with a smile on his face. Pugsley gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Pugsley shoots in but Armstrong avoids the takedown attempt easily. Armstrong lands a jab to Pugsley's midsection. Nice uppercut there from Armstrong.

and Pugsley counters with a takedown into side control. Armstrong prevents Pugsley from moving into mount. Pugsley wants to control but Armstrong is keeping him busy. Armstrong taking punishment in the form of punches.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pugsley taking a breather here. Pugsley is working to tighten his grip on Armstrong's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Armstrong has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Pugsley is really squeezing tight and eventually Armstrong passes out! Pugsley breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
