Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Methodios McIntyre (ranked 1911 p4p, 2551 weight class) and Andrey Rykov (ranked 286 p4p, 366 weight class). McIntyre comes to the cage accompanied by Gallantry. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McIntyre swings widly with a right hand
and Rykov counters with a stiff right hand.
McIntyre moves out of range as Rykov strikes.
Rykov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rykov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McIntyre moves away.

Rykov's coach down at St Petersburg MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rykov's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Methodios McIntyre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rykov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
McIntyre cracks Rykov with an open hand slap.
Rykov tries to bum rush McIntyre with a series of wild strikes but McIntyre uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rykov takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

McIntyre catches Rykov with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McIntyre displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rykov throws out the jab.
