Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Finlay Standifer (ranked 785 p4p, 1254 weight class) and Chris John (ranked 119 p4p, 181 weight class). John has chosen Don't Stop Me Now as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Finlay Standifer has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Finlay Standifer seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Finlay Standifer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris John!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Standifer looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
John throws a jab when Standifer was well out of range.
Standifer thows a left - swing and a miss!
John is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Standifer.
John misses with a wild body shot.
Standifer scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Standifer has John up against the cage in a clinch.
John lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Standifer blocks a punch to the side of the head.
John misses with the head strike.
A head punch blocked on the inside by John.
John tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Standifer's elbow.
Standifer tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

John has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Standifer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching John on his heels. He'll look to pass John's guard now, I'm sure.

John has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Standifer off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
John throws a body punch but Standifer moves out of range.
John throws a jab but it's blocked by Standifer.
Standifer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has John pinned against the cage. John gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Standifer walks into a left hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A looping hook to the body misses from John. Standifer does a little dance to reset his feet.
Standifer bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Standifer throws a body punch but John moves out of range.
Standifer avoids the head kick by John.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts John, as that shot connected.
Standifer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
John throws the left hand but Standifer avoids the punch easily.
John misses with a hook. Standifer ducked under it nicely.
Standifer seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Standifer misses the jab.
John uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Standifer.
John lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

It looks like Finlay Standifer has been cut.
John misses with a wild body shot.
Standifer slips under a jab from John.
Standifer appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Standifer moves out of range of the strikes.
John uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Standifer.
John looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

John wants to stand and escape but Standifer is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

John is trying to control the position but Standifer postures up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
John wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Standifer manages to pass to side control.
Standifer is controlling the pace.
John punching from the bottom.
John really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Standifer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Standifer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. John doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Standifer.
John wants to get back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

John pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
John throws an overhand right that lands on Standifer's shoulder, as Standifer tries to avoid the shot.
Standifer half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
John bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Standifer's head backwards.
Standifer ducks under a wild hook from John.

Standifer closes the distance and clinches.
John has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Standifer seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if John can turn it around.

John's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Standifer takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Standifer appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
John lunges at Standifer with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Standifer's hand.

Oh Standifer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Standifer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Standifer throws a hook to the side of John's head but John sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Standifer seems to have got his legs back now.
John has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Standifer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. John knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

John is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Standifer has just dragged him back down to the mat.

John is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Standifer asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Chris John is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
