Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Gracie (ranked 1133 p4p, 810 weight class) and Raminus Polus (ranked 151 p4p, 111 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anderson Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raminus Polus!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Polus scores with a shot to the body.
Gracie misses with an uppercut.
Polus slips under a jab from Gracie.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Polus has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Polus shoots in and gets a takedown into Gracie's guard.
Polus won't allow Gracie to sweep him here.
Polus wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
Gracie keeping full guard, as Polus tries to pass.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Polus has gone for a leg lock! Gracie slips out almost immediately though and dives into Polus's guard.

Polus controls Gracie momentarily but Gracie frees himself.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Polus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gracie wants to control from the top but Polus keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gracie tries a low kick but Polus avoids it.
Polus drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Gracie defends it well.
Gracie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Polus was well out of range. Poor timing from Gracie.
Gracie scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Polus moves out of range as Gracie strikes.

Gracie lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Polus at a distance.
Anderson Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Polus.

It looks like Raminus Polus has been cut.
Gracie looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gracie listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Polus checks a leg kick.
Polus with the counter takedown but Gracie avoids it easily.

Polus shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Polus thows a huge punch but Gracie dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie controlling the position for now.
Gracie makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gracie.
Gracie wants to sweep but no luck.
Polus showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Raminus Polus's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Gracie with a hook.
Gracie throws a hook but Polus blocks it.
A swing and a miss from Gracie.
Polus moves out of range of the strikes.
A punch lands to the side of Polus 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Polus shoots in for a takedown but Gracie shows good takedown defense.
Polus smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Gracie misses with a straight right.
Gracie gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Polus.
Polus scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Polus takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Polus ducks under a wild hook from Gracie.
Polus takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Gracie misses with a body shot.
Gracie is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Polus.

Polus changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
A swing and a miss from Gracie.
Polus takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

That has opened up Raminus Polus's cut even more.
Polus lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Polus lands a nice looking body kick.
Polus ducks under a wild hook from Gracie.
Polus feints the counter takedown.
Anderson Gracie is winning the standup battle so far.
Gracie throws a jab when Polus was well out of range.
Gracie lands a glancing blow to the side of Polus's head.
A big right from Gracie misses.
Polus connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gracie's hands.
Gracie connects with a body shot.
Gracie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Polus can do to turn this around?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Polus dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Polus throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gracie misses with a right hand
and Polus connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Polus on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Gracie throws a big shot that misses.
Decent striking displayed by Gracie there.
Gracie looks to throw the jab but Polus is out of range.
Polus shoots in for a takedown but Gracie shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Gracie goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Polus is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Gracie lands with a hook. Polus tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

The cut above Raminus Polus's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Gracie misses with a kick to the body

and Polus counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Polus.
Gracie keeping moving, preventing Polus from controlling successfully.
Gracie is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Polus wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position.
Gracie is trying to control the position but Polus postures up.
Polus trying to move into half guard but instead Gracie has managed to sweep!

Raminus Polus has got the better of the ground game so far.
Gracie passes Polus's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Polus regains full guard. Nicely done.

Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Polus is retaining full guard.
Polus looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gracie is one step ahead there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Polus's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Gracie misses with a hook. Polus ducked under it nicely.
Gracie is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Polus.
Polus avoids the head kick by Gracie.
Gracie takes a swing at Polus's ribcage but misses.
Gracie swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Polus slips a straight right by Gracie.
Gracie pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Gracie digs a good body shot into Polus's ribs.
Gracie drops his hands momentarily and Polus takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Gracie scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Gracie keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Polus moves away from the strike by Gracie.

Polus walks into a left hand.
Gracie misses the jab.
Anderson Gracie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gracie throws a leg kick

and Polus counters with a takedown into side control.
Gracie defending against the ground and pound.
Gracie avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Polus.

Polus is trying to get an arm triangle but Gracie is defending well.
Polus trying to control the position but Gracie is working away.
Anderson Gracie is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Gracie controls the position for a moment.
You can see the frustration on Gracie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

I would just about give that final round to Raminus Polus.
I think Gracie has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
