Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maxim Menshikov (ranked 2634 p4p, 2121 weight class) and Peter Beardsley (ranked 131 p4p, 109 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 33 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Maxim Menshikov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Beardsley! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Menshikov misses with a wild combination.
Menshikov takes one on the button. Beardsley gets a clinch. Menshikov is trying to break free. Both guys are working to get underhooks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beardsley presses Menshikov against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Beardsley lands an uppercut. Menshikov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Menshikov misses the body punch and Beardsley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Beardsley has taken the fight to the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beardsley has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Menshikov uses from the top position. Beardsley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Menshikov defends it easily. Beardsley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Beardsley can't keep his opponent in guard - Menshikov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Beardsley is trying to get back to full guard. Menshikov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Beardsley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Well, if Menshikov is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Menshikov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Beardsley actively working from the bottom here. Menshikov controlling the action here. Beardsley is pressing down on Menshikov's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Beardsley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Menshikov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Beardsley looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beardsley controls Menshikov momentarily but Menshikov frees himself. Menshikov wants to control from the top but Beardsley keeps moving. Beardsley looking for a guillotine here but Menshikov defends easily.
Menshikov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Beardsley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Menshikov has managed to get both his arms back between Beardsley's legs - danger averted. Beardsley can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Menshikov controls the pace. Beardsley keeping moving, preventing Menshikov from controlling successfully. Beardsley not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Beardsley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Menshikov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peter Beardsley dominated that round. That's time! Menshikov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Menshikov swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Beardsley throws a nice looking combination but Menshikov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Menshikov throws a series of punches but Beardsley moves out of range. Menshikov tries to bum rush Beardsley with a series of wild strikes but Beardsley uses good footwork to avoid the assault. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Beardsley! But no joy. Menshikov is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
It looks like Peter Beardsley has been cut. Menshikov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Beardsley manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Decent striking displayed by Beardsley there. A looping hook to the body misses from Beardsley. Menshikov does a little dance to reset his feet. Menshikov seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beardsley connects with a single shot there. Menshikov tries to clinch but Beardsley moves out of range. Menshikov takes a shot to the body in his stride.

A looping hook to the body misses from Menshikov. Beardsley does a little dance to reset his feet. Menshikov sets himself, and Beardsley steps forward looking for the clinch! Menshikov avoids it this time. Menshikov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A low kick lands for Beardsley.

Beardsley takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beardsley keeps the fight on the outside. Menshikov takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Beardsley staying out of range there. Menshikov wants to clinch. Beardsley darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Beardsley has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Menshikov takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Beardsley is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Beardsley connects with a nice looking jab.
Beardsley jabs Menshikov to the body, keeping him at a distance. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Beardsley instigates a clinch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Beardsley is trying to pull guard but Menshikov has him pressed against the cage. Beardsley manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Menshikov stays in close to Beardsley's body and controls the position. Menshikov wants to stand but Beardsley is controlling his posture from full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Peter Beardsley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Peter Beardsley's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Beardsley dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Menshikov. That did some damage! Beardsley staying out of range there. Beardsley tries to counter with a clinch but Menshikov shakes him off and moves away. Beardsley has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Beardsley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
It looked like Menshikov was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Beardsley. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Menshikov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Beardsley was well out of range. Poor timing from Menshikov. Beardsley lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Menshikov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Beardsley manages to avoid it. Beardsley fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Peter Beardsley seems to be getting the better of the standup. Menshikov looks to clinch and Beardsley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Beardsley fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Menshikov, pushing him back against the cage. Menshikov misses with the head strike.
Menshikov manages to break the clinch.
Beardsley takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
It looks like Maxim Menshikov has been cut. Oh, that's a big right hand from Beardsley and Menshikov goes tumbling to the canvas! Beardsley follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard. Peter Beardsley has got the better of the ground game so far. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Beardsley slows the pace down in half guard. Beardsley wants to work for an arm triangle but Menshikov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Maxim Menshikov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Peter Beardsley decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
