Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jake Askren (ranked 2571 p4p, 1832 weight class) and Keizo Kasai (ranked 222 p4p, 167 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 1, fighting out of London, Jake Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Keizo Kasai!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren darts in looking for a takedown but Kasai gets double underhooks and turns Askren into the cage.
Askren lands a left hand that snaps the head of Kasai backwards.
We've been hearing reports that Askren has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Askren goes for a takedown attempt but Kasai pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Askren cracks Kasai with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Askren closes the distance and clinches.

Askren breaks the clinch.
Kasai circles away from the clinch attempt.
Askren uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kasai.
Kasai misses with a hook. Askren ducked under it nicely.

Askren closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kasai to the mat! Kasai manages to get full guard.

Kasai manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Askren avoids the body shot from Kasai.
Askren tries to counter by clinching up but Kasai breaks away and moves out of range.
Kasai keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Askren. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Askren throws a right and a left that both miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kasai blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Kasai misses with the head strike.
Askren goes for a takedown attempt but Kasai pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jake Askren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Askren with a lazy takedown attempt
and Kasai counters with a left and a right that stings Askren.
Kasai misses with a straight right.
Askren is looking to counter the offense by Kasai and move into the clinch.
Kasai misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Askren is looking to clinch.
Askren fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kasai is looking for the big counter here.

Askren shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Askren throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kasai is looking to improve his position.
Kasai told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Askren has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kasai's face.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kasai can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kasai wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Askren is landing with some decent strikes but Kasai is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Kasai is looking to improve his position but Askren isn't that keen on the idea.
Askren putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Askren connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
BOOM! Askren connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Askren cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Kasai really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Askren. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Askren has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kasai's face.

Kasai is rocked!
Askren lands a big elbow.
Kasai is still in real trouble! Can Askren finish him?
Askren lands a couple of good shots and Kasai has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Askren lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Askren.
A helpless look comes across Kasai 's face. He knows he's trapped as Askren lands a series of unanswered strikes. The ref steps in to stop the fight and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake Askren!
A very excited looking Jake Askren made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
