Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Valentin Taneyev (ranked 8 p4p, 18 weight class) and Mantak Garuda (ranked 2 p4p, 5 weight class). Garuda has chosen Djiin Djiin as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Valentin Taneyev!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 40 - 13 - 1, fighting out of London, Mantak Garuda!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garuda tries to land a body kick
enabling Taneyev to counter with a crisp jab.
A head kick by Garuda misses
and Taneyev counters with a right hand to the body.
Garuda shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
It looks like Mantak Garuda has been cut.
Taneyev looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Garuda looks to throw the jab but Taneyev is out of range.
A big right from Taneyev misses.
Taneyev scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Garuda fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Taneyev manages to avoid it.

and Taneyev counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Taneyev is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Taneyev works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Mantak Garuda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Garuda attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
It appears Taneyev was looking to counter with a kick there.
Taneyev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Taneyev avoids the body shot from Garuda.
It looked like Taneyev wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Taneyev dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Garuda has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Garuda throws a half hearted mid kick.
The fighters circling - Taneyev throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

and Garuda takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Taneyev counters with an outside leg kick.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Garuda scores with the left hand. Taneyev knows he should have avoided that one.
Taneyev moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Nice uppercut lands for Taneyev. That snapped Garuda's head back.
That has opened up Mantak Garuda's cut even more.
Taneyev digs a good hook to Garuda's body.

Garuda throws a poor cross that misses
and Taneyev counters with a powerful cross that connects right on the chin and the lights go out! A massive one punch knock out!
