PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Toti Rotiz (ranked 3036 p4p, 3408 weight class) and Fabio Gurgel (ranked 414 p4p, 456 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rotiz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Southtown . Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Fabio Gurgel enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Toti Rotiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabio Gurgel!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rotiz thuds a left hand into Gurgel's body.
Gurgel throws a jab but it's blocked by Rotiz.
Rotiz uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Gurgel has time to react.
Gurgel takes one to the chin there.
Rotiz stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rotiz is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Gurgel ducks right into an uppercut from Rotiz.
Toti Rotiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A left lands for Rotiz.
A jab from Rotiz does it's job there.
Rotiz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gurgel walks into a left hand.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Gurgel shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rotiz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Rotiz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gurgel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rotiz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gurgel looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Rotiz content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Gurgel looking for subs off his back but Rotiz has passed one foot through into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rotiz connects with a nice short shot to Gurgel's temple.
Rotiz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gurgel with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Gurgel is looking to control Rotiz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gurgel avoid being mounted?

Rotiz lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Gurgel falls backwards - clearly groggy! Rotiz dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Toti Rotiz!
Toti Rotiz tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
