Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Duggan (ranked 2735 p4p, 2486 weight class) and Stephen Steve (ranked 359 p4p, 315 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Duggan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephen Steve!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duggan lands a nice shot that snaps Steve's head back.
Steve throws a nice outside leg kick.
Duggan takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Steve throws a lazy right hand but Duggan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Duggan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Steve. Steve circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Steve's coach down at New York Public Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Steve's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Steve is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steve does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jim Duggan will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Duggan takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Duggan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Duggan crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Steve - the referee stops the clock and Duggan gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Steve. Duggan manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Duggan is trying to control. Steve wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Duggan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Steve on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Steve is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Duggan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Duggan's back!

Steve is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

I would just about give that final round to Stephen Steve.
I think Steve has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
