Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Morton Masters (ranked 1650 p4p, 1693 weight class) and Nakagome Kakuzo (ranked 222 p4p, 227 weight class). Morton Masters could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Nakagome Kakuzo's chin.

Masters cracks Kakuzo with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kakuzo throws a low kick, looking for Masters's leg but Masters calmly moves out of range.
Masters takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Masters tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kakuzo swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Masters throws out a loose jab but Kakuzo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kakuzo cracks Masters with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Masters throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Morton Masters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Morton Masters dominated that round.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Masters lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Kakuzo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Masters uses from the top position.
Masters seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kakuzo controls Masters momentarily but Masters frees himself.
Masters got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kakuzo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Masters has managed to get both his arms back between Kakuzo's legs - danger averted.

Kakuzo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Masters defends well.
